I recently contacted a company that specializes in cleaning products specifically for the garbage disposal and the dishwasher and they have graciously agreed to a product review! Affresh is a company that helps us keep our kitchens smelling clean and fresh...without breaking our banks and budgets.
One of the things I cannot stand is yucky smells in the kitchen. Recently I tore my whole refrigerator apart because something smelled rotten in there. I never did find anything and to this day, I am still baffled. Having a clean home is important to me and sometimes just one foul odor can make your whole house feel dirty! You can imagine my excitement when I discovered Affresh! Here is a bit more about Affresh and how it works...
What really stands out to me about Affresh is the fact that it removes the odors where they originate...rather than simply masking them, it cuts them out. I also love the fact that this product was developed by Whirlpool so you can really trust the recommendations that they make and promote for Affresh.
For this review I was sent Affresh Dishwasher & Disposal Cleaner and I can tell you this...it is AMAZING. I decided to try it out today when I was done doing dishes because with the heat and humidity we have been having, it seems like odors in my sink are very pronounced. Affresh comes in tablet form and each tablet is individually packaged. I am used to stuffing a small, paper package full of cleaner powder down into my disposal so this was a totally new and different experience for me.
All you do is unwrap your tablet and put it into your disposal. Then, you turn on the hot water and let it slowly run into the disposal. Turn on the disposal and let things "work" for 15 seconds. You will not see any foam (like I am used to seeing) and will only hear the tablet being disintegrated. After 15 seconds, turn off the water and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then, you just flush your disposal with hot water and you are done!
What I really loved about using Affresh is that hours after I had run one tablet through my disposal I could still smell the freshness! It was very nice. According to the instructions, I should only have to use Affresh once a month...which is great too.
I cannot tell you how well this would work for a dishwasher because I don't have one. But, I know how well it works with my disposal so I can only imagine what it will do to a dishwasher! I am going to give my mom a tablet to try in her dishwasher and see if she likes it.
Affresh can be found at local retailers such as Lowes, Home Depot, Best Buy and Sears. The cost is very reasonable too...only $5.99 for a six tablet package, which will last you six months!
So, in my opinion...Affresh Dishwasher & Disposal Cleaner is a great product! I was very happy with the way that it cleaned my disposal completely...leaving no odors behind. It was simple to use and very quick too. The scent is pleasant and really leaves things smelling fresh and clean. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who owns a dishwasher and/or a disposal...it works wonderfully!!!

vinegar and water to clean
ReplyDeleteWhen I used to have a garbage disposal, I would always run lemon or orange peels through it from time to time. I no longer have one, but I do have a dishwasher that smells a little off, and I have no idea how to clean it!
