Treasured Locks Review & Giveaway {CLOSED}

***GIVEAWAY CLOSED***

Hair, skin, nails, body. That seems to be a reoccurring theme around here lately. :) Hope you don't mind my most recent thematic postings...I do love to review anything body-related and am always finding new and exciting companies to work with that carry beauty products!! One thing I have NEVER reviewed are beauty products specifically made for my African-American readers. Why? I guess it is because I am not an African-American so I don't really think about that line of products. However, do you know how wonderful it is to find a company that carries these types of products that will be suitable for either African-Americans or just plain Americans?? Believe me...I am really in love with this next company that I am going to introduce you to today.
Treasured Locks is a company that offers hair, skin and body products specifically for African Americans. With special hair and skin needs, it must be difficult to find really great products that are clean and healthy for you to use. I have a friend who is African American and her skin is sooo extremely dry...I have been wanting to help her find something to soften up her skin and help her feel more beautiful. Treasured Locks just may be the company I have been searching for!
Treasured Locks is a small, black owned company and is operated by Tywana Smith. Here is a bit more about this company...

We chose the name for Treasured Locks for many reasons. First, like treasure, quality hair care products for black people can be hard to find. As more of us move away from areas where there are local stores to cater to our needs, we find ourselves running all over town just to find the basics. Secondly, your hair or your locks is a treasure to you. Our hair has unique requirements, and we must take care of it properly to unlock the beauty contained within. Treasured Locks was created out of my personal frustration with finding quality black hair care products and information on how to care for my family's hair and skin.

We began by offering just a few products that I found worked well for me and my family. Over the course of time, we have expanded our offerings and will continue to do so. However, we intentionally limit our offerings to products we feel good about and would use ourselves. We intend to maintain our boutique-like feel. Our policy is to only offer products we have extreme confidence in. Most of the products you see here are products we use on a regular basis. Our goal is to continue to develop the company to meet your needs. So, please tell me what you like and what you don't like. If there is a product you need and you don't see it here, tell me and I'll see if I can get it for you.

I really love the flexibility and honesty of this company. They really do seem to care about their customers and their needs...which is an awesome characteristic for any company to possess.
For this review, I was sent the Shea Butter Honey & Black Seed Total Body Care Set (which contains three of Treasured Lock's most popular items). I could smell it as soon as I opened the box and immediately knew I would love it! Now, I am not an African-American...I am the exact opposite (white-as-a-ghost) :). So, I was interested to see how these products would work for ME.
This set contains Honey & Black Seed Lotion, Shea Moisturizer and Honey & Black Seed Soap. The first product I tried was the soap. This soap is really nice and is meant to help with blemishes, soothe the skin and heal the skin as well. I can see why it would do all these things as it is a very gentle and mild soap...full of a luscious fragrance. I LOVED the way it made my skin feel!!!
Then, I tried the Shea Moisturizer. This too was a very nice product. It is very thick and has been know for centuries to moisturize, protect, heal and replenish African's skin...and I totally think it would help my friend out with her skin!! This Shea Moisturizer is also very good for the scalp and absorbs very quickly.
Lastly, I applied some of the Honey & Black Seed Lotion. WOW. I cannot help but keep sniffing my hands. It smells amazing!! It too is a thicker lotion and you don't need much to get a nice coating on your skin. It really did feel great once I had rubbed it in and left my skin feeling soft, moisturized and smelling very pleasant.

This set retails for $29 on Treasured Locks website and can be purchased directly from them. Along with this set, you can also find a plethora of other items that are wonderful for African Americans and their special skin and hair needs. They do cater to many races and skin types, so don't be afraid to check them out!

So, in my opinion...Treasured Locks really offers some great products! I am really happy with the skin care set I received and was totally impressed with the quality and sizes of the products. While I am not black, I am glad to know that their products do work well for me and that they are open and ready to meet your needs!!
