Eco-Products Review

Growing up, my parents always recycled. Cans, bottles, newspapers, etc. they recycled everything that was approved. I remember using paper plates and cups and then tossing them into the trash afterwards because if they were dirty, they could not be recycled. I have to admit that since we have moved into our new house, we haven't yet obtained a recycle bin for our recyclables but if I had one, I would most certainly use it. Using eco-friendly products is not something that I consistently do but something that I try to do when I am able. Obviously, using disposable products is easier because you just throw them into the trash when you are finished with them and you don't have to wash dishes! I like that. :)
When it comes to eco-friendly products, there is a fantastic company that I have recently become acquainted with and I wanted to introduce them to you all today. Eco-Products is a company that carries sustainable, disposable products that are made from recycled, plant based materials. I had never heard of this company before and was excited to review their products! Before I continue though, here is a bit more information about Eco-Products...

We are not a disposable products company trying to act green. We're a green company who happens to operate in disposables.

With an idea, a garage, and a few grants to write a business plan, Kent and Steve Savage founded Eco-Products on October 1, 1990. The general idea was to provide products made from recycled materials to businesses in central Colorado. The demand for recycled products was consistent and many competitors already offered similar products made from recycled materials, so our founders shifted the business toward foodservice disposables and janitorial supplies. Eco-Products continued to grow more rapidly, expanding our line of foodservice items and enjoying an increasing growth rate for a small company.

When I was contacted about doing a review for Eco-Products, I was very excited and had a difficult time choosing what I wanted to review. Thankfully, the company sent me what they felt would be enjoyed the most by my family and I.
So, for this review I was sent a package of Large Square Sugarcane Plates and a package of 12 oz. GreenStripe Cold Cups. My first impression was how elegant the plates looked. I mean, they look so classy, don't they?
The plates have a nice indented center to make filling the plate simple and they are made of sugarcane...a rapidly renewable resource. They feel like heavy duty cardboard and are very thick. The one thing I HATE about paper plates is how floppy they get when you fill them with food. I don't know how many times my children have dumped plates of food simply because they collapse under the weight of the food that is on them...no matter how much or how little food too! These are definitely more heavy duty. Oh, and they are also cut-resistant. I know this because I tried. :)
The GreenStripe Cold Cups are nice as well. They aren't as classy in looks as the plates but they are still very useful and come in handy around my house. These cups are made from a PLA, which is a plant-based plastic. I have never heard of plant-based plastic before! Sounds so much nicer than the chemical laden plastic that we typically have around here. They are very durable and certified compostable, which is great.
So, talking about these products is all well and good but I love to base my opinion of products I review on how they actually work for me. I have to say that I was impressed. I used the plates the other day for my lunch and as you can see, I had a large salad. It was loaded with good things and the plate held up beautifully...I carried it to the table with one hand instead of trying to keep the sides from collapsing. It was perfect! The cup worked out well too...I wasn't really expecting much out of it though. It wasn't flimsy and was a great cup for my ginger ale.
Also, like most people, we are heading to a family Memorial Day picnic tomorrow and the Square Sugarcane Plates were perfect for my chocolate chip cookies! Don't they look great? I love square dishes as they really seem to dress up the presentation of my food.

So, if you are interested in checking out these and other products that are eco-friendly, be sure to visit Eco-Products. Also, make sure you stop by their Facebook page as well as their Twitter account and and check out the happenings there. I was thoroughly impressed with Eco-Products and was delighted to try out their products. I do recommend them and hope that you will check them out today!

Prem Soaps Review

I often love to highlight beauty and skin care products here on my blog and have been on the search for some really great and organic beauty companies to feature. When it comes to my skin (as I have said numerous times before) I am choosy as to what I use on it. Our skin really takes a beating...especially when exposed to the weather and indoor elements such as water, heat, cleaners and soaps . Have you noticed that most soaps today...even though they smell great...contain LOADS of chemicals and additives? I have, and honestly-it's scary. Think about it...your skin is like a giant sponge; what goes ON gets absorbed IN. So I think it is important to use only those products that will put goodness in...rather than chemicals. The other day I was searching the Internet for organic kitchen products . Specifically, I was looking for bamboo products, towels, dishes, etc. However, I was NOT prepared to find what I did! Prem Soaps is a little company nestled in Brooklyn, NY that...

Wholly Guacamole Review and Giveaway

***GIVEAWAY CLOSED*** Here in our home, we are big time snackers. My husband always says "Time to eat again!" right before he goes to bed...it's tradition!!! So, off to bed he goes carrying a plate of some type of snack. His favorite foods are usually hot foods to "warm up" his belly before dozing off for the night. HOW he enjoys this I don't know. Usually he brings in extra for me too but because I brush my teeth before crawling into bed I don't normally partake of his night time snacks. We LOVE salsa in our house too...it is just something that is always a part of our snacking. The best part about snacking on salsa is that it is usually healthy for you...which makes it all the more enjoyable! This next review encompasses guacamole AND salsa...and my my-it is GOOD! I have heard of Wholly Guacamole before but had never tried it. So when the opportunity arose for me to conduct a review of their products, I was thrilled! Mainly because I have ...
