Hard to believe that another school year has come and gone already. Seems like just yesterday we were getting ready to start school and here we are, done and into summer. For some kids, this is the year they have been waiting for their whole lives. This year, they are graduating! I remember when I graduated from high school and how liberated I felt. No more school! But then...I started to think about college, which meant MORE school. HA! Ever since my teenage years, I have been going on and off different diets. I come from a stocky build family and have always struggled with my weight. My best weight loss took place several months before my wedding. I bought a wedding dress online and didn't realize that wedding dresses are sized differently and when my dress came in, it was too small in some areas. I was devastated and because I couldn't return the dress (they claimed it was specially made for me, which was baloney) I was forced to lose weight. I went on a pretty strict diet and ended up losing the weight I needed to fit into my dress. Total weight lost for that was about 25 pounds...which I lost in two months. Oh man. I don't EVER want to have to go through that again! It was so hard but because I was successful, I know I have the will power and ability to lose weight. Now, I find myself on a diet once again simply because after having my babies, the weight isn't coming off easily and I want to look...

It is summer OFFICIALLY now so you can expect to see summer-themed posts quite frequently around here. :) One thing that I have been focusing on is sunscreen and it is so important for us to take care of our skin. Last weekend, our family enjoyed some much-needed time together and we went to the zoo!! Woo! I love going to the zoo and it has been some time since our last visit. Our younger children had never been before so it was such a treat to experience that with them! Before we even hit the park, I made sure all of the children had sunscreen on them...especially on both of my sons' ears. Their poor little ears get burned SO easily...I make sure they are well covered during any outdoor activities during the summer. By the way, did you know that you can get sunburned during the winter too?? The sun reflects off the snow and you can get some pretty powerful UV rays even though it is bitter cold out. Just thought I would throw that out there. Anyway, enough talk about the snow...

I have always loved having long hair . I went through periods in my life when I would cut my hair short but I would almost always revert back to the long styles. When my hubby met me, my hair was shoulder length, but as I got to know him better I found out that he loved long hair. So, when we were married, I decided that I wouldn't cut my hair again except for a trim to keep it healthy. The longest my hair has been is waist length and oh goodness...it was SO heavy then! I ended up getting about 6 inches taken off simply because my hair was falling out (hormone dump after giving birth) and getting it cut was the only way to get it to stop falling out. One of the hardest things to do is to find the time to do my hair. Not only is my hair long, it is THICK and has a slight wave to it. So, I typically put it up in a bun/French twist thing and that is that. I don't style it much and it is held in place with two jaw type clips. Using barrettes is usually out of the question beca...

I am a huge fan of winter but I can definitely say that I am usually relieved when the warmer months roll around again. Winter time means bundling everyone up to go outside and sometimes enduring severe snow storms and frigid temperatures. Summer means pool time, picnics, flip flops and everything that is fun to do in the sun. When summer is here, my children spend alot of time outdoors and making sure they are protected from the harmful rays of the sun is VERY important to me. All of my children take after me and have very fair skin and burn easily. I burn easily too and it really stinks because I don't ever tan after a burn...I just fry and then turn white again. Oh well...I manage to get some pretty awesome freckles from the sun though so it isn't so bad. :) It's time to break out the sunscreen again and I have another great sunscreen company to introduce you to today! Next month, my baby girl will be celebrating her FIRST birthday!! I feel like it was just yesterday when I first held her in my arms. Can it really be that a whole year has flown by already?!? Wow. Baby Rebekah as been such a different baby from her siblings. She has breast fed differently, slept differently, LOVED to be swaddled, and loves to sleep with me. Every baby is so different but she really takes the cake. One thing that she has NOT done is eat baby food. She hates the pureed, jarred foods and from the beginning, wanted to eat the real food instead of the baby food. I did something with her that is called " Baby Led Weaning ", or BLW. It was something that I had never heard of and it basically means that you feed baby table foods from the time that they start eating solids. So, if I am eating spaghetti, I will give her spaghetti. If I am eating a hamburger, I will give her pieces of a hamburger patty along with assorted toppings. She eats pretty much everything tha...
