I was just sitting here thinking about how long it has been since my college days. I was enrolled in college from 2002 until 2004...wow, that was like, a long time ago!! Actually, it seems like it was just yesterday. I loved going to college but what I didn't like was having to buy textbooks. My big issue with this was that I spent loads of money for books that were barely used during class time. Sure, there were classes in which I used my books but most of the time, the professor scribbled on the white board and I took notes in my notebooks. This made me feel like my hard-earned money was being wasted and I hated it. We are currently in December which means that a lot of college students are looking forward to a new semester and putting the old one behind them. That means one thing...it's crunch time and also it is time to start shopping for new college textbooks . Ok, I am a college graduate and have an Associates Degree in Administrative Assisting. I remember my college days very well and the one thing that seems to be an issue for any college student is money. I never had any. Ha ha! I worked two jobs and made it through about 1 year of college by paying cash. However, the cash soon disappeared no matter how hard I was working and I ended up getting loans. Yuck. Anyway, I think the biggest financial drain of college besides tuition was having to buy books. Books that seemingly were never used and just sat in the book bag, only opened on a few occasions. Back when I was in college, I think the worst part about going to college was having to fork out outrageous amounts of money for books. The even more frustrating part was that some of those books WERE NEVER USED. When our book list was given to us (of required books for the semester), I always cringed. The thought always crossed my mind "How much is this going to cost me and am I even going to use it??" You see, I paid my own way through college and worked my tail off for every penny. This was why the college textbook issue was such a big deal to me. Too many times I would sit in class with my brand new book and throughout the semester, the professor would refer to the book several times but we were never required to read it, nor would we be tested on the material found in the book. Then, when the new semester would start, you couldn't get a used book because the publisher would change one word in the book and suddenly, it was no longer usable. So, selling my textbooks ...
