When I have little babies in my house, I think my favorite time has always been bath time. I have never had a baby who didn't love bath time so it was always a fun time. My most recent baby, Rebekah, is really starting to get into her bath time. This means that she is discovering bubbles, splashing, warm water running over her toes and tubby toys. When it comes to baby bath products , the options are seemingly endless. When you are standing in the store staring at the baby care products, there are so many different brands...how in the world do you pick out the one that is just right for your little bundle of joy??? Did I tell you all that we had a FROST the other night??? I was sooo shocked when I heard about it. I was a bit concerned too because we had just planted 36 strawberry plants and so I was putting bed sheets over all of our tender plants. Unfortunately, I totally forgot to cover our tomato plants (which we started from seed indoors) and all of them were killed. :( Boo. So, we are going to have to re-plant those. Anyway, it is hard to believe it was cold like that a few nights ago because today it was definitely hot and humid. This summer, we have a new pool and even though it is small, it is perfect for our children. They spend most of their time out in the water and I am so grateful that they are able to have some water fun. The only issue I have is that our backyard has no shade at all so if the children go outside, they are basically in the sun all day long. It is cool in the pool, but the sun is still blazing hot and can be dangerous, especially to my fair-skinned children. ...

I am a huge fan of winter but I can definitely say that I am usually relieved when the warmer months roll around again. Winter time means bundling everyone up to go outside and sometimes enduring severe snow storms and frigid temperatures. Summer means pool time, picnics, flip flops and everything that is fun to do in the sun. When summer is here, my children spend alot of time outdoors and making sure they are protected from the harmful rays of the sun is VERY important to me. All of my children take after me and have very fair skin and burn easily. I burn easily too and it really stinks because I don't ever tan after a burn...I just fry and then turn white again. Oh well...I manage to get some pretty awesome freckles from the sun though so it isn't so bad. :) It's time to break out the sunscreen again and I have another great sunscreen company to introduce you to today! It is summer OFFICIALLY now so you can expect to see summer-themed posts quite frequently around here. :) One thing that I have been focusing on is sunscreen and it is so important for us to take care of our skin. Last weekend, our family enjoyed some much-needed time together and we went to the zoo!! Woo! I love going to the zoo and it has been some time since our last visit. Our younger children had never been before so it was such a treat to experience that with them! Before we even hit the park, I made sure all of the children had sunscreen on them...especially on both of my sons' ears. Their poor little ears get burned SO easily...I make sure they are well covered during any outdoor activities during the summer. By the way, did you know that you can get sunburned during the winter too?? The sun reflects off the snow and you can get some pretty powerful UV rays even though it is bitter cold out. Just thought I would throw that out there. Anyway, enough talk about the snow...

It is nearing the end of August now and although the days have been cooler around here, the sun is still super hot. My children are still spending a lot of time in the pool and I am trying to be vigilant with the sunscreen. This past summer, I put sunscreen on my oldest son before he went into the pool but was shocked when he came back in the house later. I took off his T-shirt (it wasn't a swim shirt, just a regular t-shirt) and to my horror, his entire back was sunburned. The sun totally went through his shirt and burned his back. Now, when he goes into the pool I always put sunscreen on his entire upper torso, back and front. That skin is so sensitive, it is important not to neglect it when applying sunscreen. Palmer's is a skin care company that I have reviewed before and I LOVE using cocoa butter on my skin. I especially love using it on my children's skin because it is so gentle and soothing. I can hardly get the words out of my mouth. Spring is finally HERE! It looks like the snow has stopped flying and the first real signs of spring have shown themselves. I have a few dandelions popping up in the backyard and everything is turning green again! Trees are beginning to bud and the air is getting warmer. Winter definitely overstayed it's welcome this year but summer is so close and I am so excited about being able to be out and about again in warm weather! This summer will be soooo much fun for a number of reasons. First and foremost, we are expecting a baby on August 1st!! YAY! The second reason is that we have installed central air and so I won't die from the heat during this summer pregnancy! I would say that those two reasons alone are enough reason to celebrate the summer. :) The summer sun is wonderful, but can be pretty unforgiving when it comes to our skin. As I sit here in my dining room I can see that snow is beginning to fall. All over the news there are snow warnings for our area tonight through Thanksgiving day and OH how I LOVE snow!! For those of you who dislike snow, well, we are going to get a bunch of it here and if you live in the area - you will get some too! JOY! Seriously though, I do love winter and also love the snow. Before hubby and I were married, he took me skiing. I had never been before and was very excited about getting to try it out. All of my coworkers were wishing me luck and telling me not to break anything and it was a huge joke that I would come back from skiing in a body cast. Well, skiing was nothing like I thought it would be and I didn't wipe out too much. One thing that really surprised me was how hot I became when skiing. The sun reflecting off the snow proved to be pretty unforgiving too as I had a mild sunburn when we got home that day. Who would have thought I would have a sunburn in the middle ...

I don't know about you but I have been having such a great summer. My horrid thoughts and worries about life with out central air have been put to rest and in spite of having no A/C, we have survived and are actually used to the warm weather now. Hard to believe though that Christmas is just 4 months away now (did I just say that?!?) and we will soon be pulling out the sweaters and jackets. For now though, lets talk about summer.
