Aerobie Superdisc Review & Giveaway {US & Canada}

10:04 PM

There are so many fun things to do in the summer time. Our family loves to spend time taking walks and now that our children are a bit bigger, we have discovered hiking. Small nature trails in our area make for wonderful hikes and our children love to climb and learn all about nature. Another favorite thing that we love to do is go to the local park. There is one in particular that is an elementary school playground and they have a huge field on which the children can run and play. It's like having a huge backyard with no boundaries. Our backyard is long but not deep so we don't have tons of room so it is nice to go somewhere that has a bit more running room.
From the time my husband and I were married, we have enjoyed playing Frisbee. I stink at throwing (and catching) Frisbees and so my husband always tries to teach me how to do it. I'm not sure why I am so bad at it, probably because I am not an athletic type of person but who really knows. It must be pretty funny to watch me play from a distance though. Today, I am going to introduce you to the Aerobie Superdisc and we have been having SO much fun with it. The Aerobie company was founded by Alan Adler and he is still very busy with the company, always inventing new products to keep things exciting. Here is a brief company overview...

Alan designed and built the first prototype of the Aerobie ring with its spoiler rim that balances lift over a wide range of throwing speeds in early 1984. The first throw of the Aerobie ring on Roble Field at Stanford showed Alan he had something special. The ring flew straight and true for an incredible distance, "as if sliding on an invisible sheet of ice." Onlookers were amazed.

Alan knew the Aerobie ring could be a hit. He also knew the flying performance of the Aerobie ring was going to be dependent on maintaining aerospace quality standards in the manufacturing processes. He therefore founded Superflight, Inc (now Aerobie, Inc.). in 1984 to manufacture and sell his high performance sport toy inventions beginning with the Aerobie flying ring. For its first 20 years of existence, Aerobie Inc. was officially named Superflight, Inc. However, in recognition of the fact that all of the products were named Aerobie and everybody knew the company as Aerobie, as of 2005, our company’s name is officially Aerobie, Inc.

Aerobie, Inc. is still owned by Alan and he still works on inventing new, exciting sport toys. We now manufacture thirteen Aerobie brand products and sell them through retailers of all types throughout the United States and to distributors in over thirty countries. All Aerobie brand sport toys are known for their extraordinary performance and quality. Our warehousing, packing, and shipping are all done in San Carlos, California.

I have reviewed some Aerobie products in the past but have never tried out the Superdisc. I was really excited to check it out, have some fun playing with it with my family and share my thoughts with all of you.
So, for this review I received an Aerobie Superdisc and as soon as it arrived, we knew we had to take it to our favorite school playground to try it out.
This disc looks just like a Frisbee, except it has a soft, cushioned edge that makes it easy on the hands when throwing and catching. It is also really easy to grip. Now, remember how I said that I cannot throw a Frisbee to save my life? Well, I was able to throw this one easily and my husband could even catch it!! HAHA! It didn't take much for me to throw it properly either. My husband thought that you had to bend the edges to make it fly straight but when I told him that it was fine the way it was, he was skeptical...until he saw it fly.

My five year old especially loved throwing this Superdisc. He needs to work on his technique, as the disc kept going behind him (LOL!) but he loved to throw it and also, loved catching it when his dad threw it at him. I got behind him and helped him hold it properly and he actually threw it straight a few times! It was really easy for him too...which I loved. Here is a short video of my family having some fun with this Aerobie Superdisc (it was really windy so it was difficult to control where the disc went).
I think they had loads of fun with this. :) My children LOVE to run and play and this makes for some great summer time exercise for them. Hubby and I also loved tossing this Superdisc between each other and had to struggle to keep the kids from stealing it from us. :)
May I also mention that my little one loved the Aerobie Superdisc as well?  She loved to chew on the rubber edge, she is teething and chews on everything anyways so this made for a neat toy for her as well. Hey, if it keeps her happy then it works for me!
The Aerobie Superdisc retails for $10, is best for ages 8 and up, and is sold at Sports Authority, Do It Best, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and other major sporting goods stores across the country. It is also noteworthy to mention that it is made right here in the US. So, if you are looking for something fun to do with your friends and family, check out this cool Aerobie Superdisc! My children are under the recommended age but still had a blast with it. I definitely recommend it to anyone.

Aerobie has offered to give away a Superdisc to one of my readers! This giveaway is open to both US and Canadian residents. Here are your entry options...
