***GIVEAWAY CLOSED***
Sooo, with summer coming to a dangerously quick end we are really trying to cook out more. We know that when the leaves start to fall and the snowflakes come that BBQ season will be over. I have always thought that it would be fun to cook out in the winter, with snow and all! Who knows, it may come to that one of these winters. Whenever we cook out I love to enjoy some sort of soda with my food. It just seems to "make" the BBQ and is also refreshing. It is even more of a treat because it is not something that we do often (drink soda, that is). When drinking soda, I don't always look for the natural stuff. Let's face it...sometimes it is easier to just grab whatever is closest and forget about natural goodness. I am bad about this. Finding healthier options for soda is always a goal of mine...although I am not always good at it. :)
Today, I am going to introduce you to a Mexican soda that will change the way you think of soda. Sidral Mundet is a soda that comes to us from Mexico and it is made from pure sugar! This is new for me, as I have not really experienced soda like this in the past.
Before I continue with my review, I think it would be good to give you a bit more history of this company and their yummy soda! Here is a bit more from their website...
Sidral Mundet's apple-flavored soft drink comes from Mexico and is popular for its great taste which comes from real apples and not artificial flavors. Made with natural sugar, Sidral Mundet boasts a unique and delicious taste.
Mundet started in 1902 when Porfirio Diaz was still governing Mexico, and Pancho Villa was known as Jose Doreoteo and being a tough revolutionary was a distant thought. Today, Sidral Mundet is among the best known brands in Mexico and one with great tradition. Sidral Mundet still maintains its high quality because its flavor comes from apple juice and it is pasteurized which guarantees its quality and freshness.
I had never heard of Sidral Mundet until now...and was very curious as to what pure sugar soda tasted like!
So, for this review I was sent a set of Sidral Mundet Mexican Sodas and a T-Shirt. The flavors I received were the original apple flavor and the newest flavor, the Mundet Green Apple.
The first flavor I tried was the Original. This soda really reminded me of fresh apple cider...I mean it tasted really fresh. Now, I know what cider would taste like if it was carbonated! The fizz was just right and it was very refreshing and tasty!
My favorite flavor out of the two I was sent was the Green Apple.WOW! This tasted like a sour apple Jolly Rancher candy!! Ever tried one of those before? Well, this soda is identical in flavor and is also really pretty in color. I love the light green look! I could very easily picture this on my table during holiday gatherings and parties...it looks really festive.
Being that this is a Mexican soda, I was really interested to see if it was available in my area. To find this out I went to their Store Locator page on their website. This takes you to their Facebook page on which you can view a map of available stores. Sadly, the closest store to me is over 150 miles away. :( But, that is OK. I also found Sidral Mundet on Amazon so if I was desperate, I could always purchase it there!! :) YAY!
So, in my opinion...Sidral Mundet is a really fantastic tasting soda! I love the Green Apple flavor is it is just bursting with the flavor of fresh apples. The fizz is just perfect in both flavors!! I was disappointed that it is not sold locally in my area, however I am pleased that I can purchase it online.
