When it comes to making a splash this summer, there are some great beauty tips and trends that Mary Kay has to offer us as women. I for one LOVE reading new ideas and hints on looking my best and because I use Mary Kay, they are usually the ones I turn to for beauty advice.
Today, Mary Kay's Glam Squad celebrity stylist Suzi Grgurich has some great tips for us and she has compiled these into a cheat sheet for easy reference. Here is Suzi's full bio..
Stylist to the stars, Suzi Grgurich has worked with some of Hollywood’s movers and shakers. A
Los Angeles-based stylist, she has beautified faces such as “GLEE” star Dianna Agron, Kellan Lutz
of “Twilight” fame, actress / model Kat Graham and Olympic gold medalist Summer Sanders.
With a passion for fashion, Suzi moved to L.A. after college at UC Santa Barbara to pursue visual
merchandising and marketing at FIDM. She gained her experience as a stylist for the top European label Miss Sixty, as well as through jobs as a freelance personal shopper and visual merchandiser.
Show-stopping, trend-setting and fashion-forward looks brought Suzie recognition through television
work, advertising shoots and celebrity styling. Prior to her current role as the lead stylist for the Style
Network, Suzi became a styling powerhouse with working for a makeover show on the Women’s
Entertainment (WE) network. Here, she merged her eye for fashion and beauty to produce trend-setting styles. Through these opportunities, Suzi came to understand the emotional and physical appeal that everyday women are searching for through their clothing and makeup.
Suzi has years of styling experience under her fashionable belt. Through TV, advertising and hands-on projects, she continues to hone her skills and make women feel beautiful, one look at a time.
Here is Suzi's Summer Style Beauty Cheat Sheet that she has put together and I think that the ideas here are great!
I could not get the photo big enough to read without chopping into my sidebar, so I took my own picture of this sheet and focused in on the writing so you could read it better.
I think my favorite tip on this sheet is the one where she says to incorporate lightweight and feminine textures to help keep you cool. I hate sweating and find that cotton keeps me coolest on the hottest of days.
So, for this review, I was sent each of the products that were mentioned in this cheat sheet and I attempted to give myself a bolder look. Surprisingly, I found that I didn't mind brighter colors! Here is what I was sent:
I really love the Mineral Eye Colors from Mary Kay because they are light and shimmery. You do not need alot to achieve a great color on your eyes and when the light catches it, it looks gorgeous. I tried to use just the Peacock color alone, but found that it was a bit too bright and really brought out the purple bags under my eyes (hey, I have a 3 month old and don't get near as much sleep as I should...LOL!).
So, all I did was apply the Peacock color on my lids and then the Sterling right below my brow bone. The silver really offset the blue nicely. As you can see above, you CAN see color, but it isn't as shocking.
As always, I loved using the Mary Kay Lash Love Waterproof Mascara in I ♥ Black. The applicator is so fine that you can really separate lashes and keep them from clumping together. This mascara is also waterproof so you can be sure that if you get caught out in a summer rain shower, your eye makeup won't run. Not to be morbid here, but my mother in law wore this mascara to a funeral and even though she cried at times, the makeup did not run at all...it stayed put for a long while after she returned home.
I was a bit scared to try the Rock 'N' Red NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss. I am more of a beige/natural/light lip gloss wearer so this was definitely a bright color for me. I dabbed a bit on my lips...then dabbed a bit more. WOW! Is it ever bright and eye-catching!! Honestly, I thought that combined with the Mineral Eye Colors, it looked great!
My finished look was not too dramatic, not too flashy but just right for me. I love how makeup can be used so diversely. One may put in on heavier, but another may use a little and each can look really great!
Along with these products, Mary Kay offers so many more and their colors are very diverse. You can pick any color from the brightest, to the pretty pastels...it's totally up to you! I hope that this cheat sheet was of help to you and that you will check out these colors for your next venture out for some summer-time fun!
Mary Kay has offered to giveaway a set of these same product that I reviewed that are featured on Suzi's Beauty Cheat Sheet...
