Organo Gold Coffee Review

6:39 AM

I am a coffee drinker. Several years ago, my husband bought a Keurig for me for Christmas and I use it religiously. I love it. Making a huge pot of coffee makes no sense because I am the only one in our house who drinks coffee so the Keurig has been wonderful. I typically drink caffeinated coffee except for when I am breastfeeding, which is the case now. During the time my babies are drinking breast milk, I stick with decaf coffee. However, every now and then I need a little bit extra to perk me up a bit.
A month or so ago I learned about a new company whom I had never heard of before. Organo Gold is a grassroots company that offers coffees, teas and other products such as soaps, lotions and toothpaste. Organo Gold coffee is most notable for being completely caffeine free but still providing that jolt of energy that we all need to get through the day due to the inclusion of a little known, all-natural ingredient known as Ganoderma. Ganoderma is a mushroom that is found in the Wuyi Mountains of China’s Fuzhou region. It is a very important mushroom as it is used extensively in traditional Asian medicine. So, how is it added to Organo Gold's coffee and tea??  Here's how it works...

The agricultural and food scientists at Organo Gold and its partners start off with only organically grown Ganoderma. Employing the latest technologies, they gently dry, sterilize and process the mushrooms from a tough, wood-like cap, into a fine powder using only natural processes.

Once the Ganoderma mushrooms have been transformed, it is added to the Organo Gold family of products, including beverages such as our Gourmet Black Coffee, Gourmet Café Latte, Gourmet Café Mocha, and Organic Green Tea. The Ganoderma is also an ingredient in our personal care product line including OG Smile Toothpaste and G3 Premium Beauty Soap. And of course in its purest form it can be found in our nutraceuticual products, encased in a vegetable capsule in the Ganoderma lucidum, Ganoderma lucidum Mycelium and Ganoderma Spore Powder supplements.

I was very interested in this coffee particularly because of it's claim to be free of caffeine. It is hard to find K-Cups that feature decaf coffee so I eagerly awaited for my coffee to arrive.
My package arrived several weeks ago and for this review, I was sent a box of Gourmet Black Gold Premium Coffee Blend from Organo Gold. I have heard people refer to coffee as "black gold" and just by the title, I knew right away that this was probably a darker, richer blend than what I am used to. Typically, I drink a medium to light blend of coffee, so this would be something new.
This box contained 12 K-Cups and they are arranged nicely in the box, not thrown into the box and jostled around during shipping. This box is nicely packaged and would make a really classy Christmas gift for anyone.
When I brewed my first cup of this coffee, it was just as I thought it would be. It had a very rich, dark flavor and was a bit too strong for me. Again, I am used to drinking a lighter blend so obviously this was stronger. Once I added some sweet creamer, it tasted very nice. I wouldn't say it is my favorite coffee, but definitely something I will keep on hand for when guests come over.
So, to learn more about Organo Gold and how to purchase this coffee, be sure to visit their website: http://www.organogold.com/. I probably wouldn't choose this particular flavor again, but would love to try some of their other coffees, and maybe even some of their teas. Check them out today!
