As all of you are probably aware, we homeschool our children. Right now I am just homeschooling my oldest and have started doing some Pre-K work with my second oldest. Being a parent who homeschools is not an easy task because you have to somehow differentiate between being a mom and being the teacher. I was homeschooled myself and it always amazed me how my mom could do such a great job being both teacher and mom. She was an AMAZING teacher and somehow, I hope to be as good as she was. One thing that I have noticed in homeschooling (and just being a mom) is how difficult it can be for my children to sit still for any length of time. They do well for short periods of course, but longer stretches are challenging. My oldest is in first grade and it takes us about 2 hours to do her school every day. Most of the time she does great but there are days when she is fidgety and a little wiggle worm. My son, who is in Pre-K is worse. Although, boys in general seem to have trouble concentrating as a whole. :) Anyone have any tips on how to get those little guys to focus and be good students???
While you think on that question, I wanted to take this post to tell you about a product that I have never heard of before but was recently introduced to and this product could revolutionize the way our children behave and funnel their focus. Designed by a mom, Senseez is a vibrating pillow for little bums and it is designed to help children settle down and work a bit easier using Vibration Therapy. I have heard of stimulating "brain buttons" in a child by having them do exercises to "wake up" their brain but I had never heard of this type of product. For those of you with children who have sensory processing disorders, ADHD, distraction issues and concentration difficulties, this pillow may be just what you have been looking for! Here is a bit more about Senseez...
These colorful, lightweight, fun-shaped vinyl vibrating cushions offer a gentle sensation when they are squeezed or sat on, relaxing, calming or soothing the body. This can help some kids sit still and others fall asleep!
Kids that have trouble sitting for meals, stories, car rides, shopping trips, school work, movies, or anything else will be comforted by the vibrations of Senseez.
While they’re great for any kids with energy, the Senseez sensory cushions make ideal special needs cushions, especially for children with autism, ADHD, or sensory processing disorder. The vibrating cushions can calm kids who need more sensory feedback or help train hypersensitive kids to tolerate more sensations.
Because I am a homeschool mom, I see on a very personal level how my children act and respond to having to sit still. It is hard. So, I was really excited to try out this cushion and see how well it worked for my children.
To make things fun, Senseez comes in a variety of shapes, colors and textures. I received the blue square cushion for this review. Something that I noticed right away was that the cover is made out of vinyl, making it super easy to keep clean. This is something that is so important when you are using a product with your children.
The vibrating mechanism is found on the inside of the pillow and is easily accessible through a zippered opening. All you have to do is put 2 AA batteries inside the mechanism and the vibrator is ready to go! The red button is what activates the vibration sensation and will only work if pressed.
So, I am so happy to have had the opportunity to review Senseez. I am really excited to share this product with my friends as well...some of them have children who could seriously benefit from it! Be sure to check out Senseez on Facebook they will be so glad to meet you! I know I have enjoyed meeting them. :)
Disclaimer: I received no monetary compensation for this post. I did receive a free Senseez Pillow for review purposes. All quotes and stock photos are from the Senseez website and email. All thoughts and opinions are 100% mine.
