PupLight Review...

11:23 PM

Back in September of 2009, my family and I travelled to Ohio to pick up our Golden Retriever puppy, whom we had named Lily. She was SOOOO cute! She never barked, never threw up, and never messed in her crate the whole drive home! It was wonderful. Shortly after getting Lily, we found out that we were expecting our second baby...who would be joining our family sometime in June of 2010. Lily was getting to be a large dog and her energy was INCREDIBLE. She would come tearing into the house and totally bowl Hannah over. I began to feel overwhelmed...it seemed as if our 800 square foot house was shrinking. Sadly, we knew that in order to keep our home intact and sane, we would have to find a new home for Lily...and we did! Lily was happily taken to a new home last April and is a happy doggie now! We were sad, but knew that it was the right thing to do...for her and for us.

Soooo, when I had the opportunity to review this next fabulous product, I didn't think that I could use it as we no longer had Lily. BUT, my inlaws have two beautiful Black Labs and I knew that they would be able to use this product!
The PupLight is a really great innovative and necessary product for ANY dog owner. It protects you AND your dog and comes highly recommended...especially for it's safety factors. The PupLight is basically a very bright LED light that is attached to an adjustable elastic collar. It consists of 3 ultra-bright LED's that can illuminate up to 200 feet. The light is battery operated and lasts for over 150 hours.
The PupLight is great for when you go for walks at dusk or in the dark because it allows other cars to see you. It also lights your path so you can see where you are going. Also, if you let your dog out in the middle of the night with the PupLight on them, you can see where they are. You don't have to worry about "losing" them in the dark. You WILL see them!

So, who came up with the PupLight anyway?

"Jackie Simoni invented the PupLight when she was trying to come up with an idea of a light that attaches to a collar while fumbling with a leash, flashlight, poop bags and animal repellent during a walk with her 90-pound, very social golden retriever. It took 15 prototypes, but the lights are now being sold at Petco, her biggest customer, Cabella's outfitters and on Amazon.

Jackie says, 'We designed PupLight to project light forward because I wanted to see the skunks in our neighborhood when they were 20 feet away. I guess it works for rattle snakes too.'"

Lady is wearing the Red PupLight

We visited my inlaws over the weekend and were able to try out the PupLight on their two dogs, Harley and Lady. They are both Black Labs and cannot be seen easily at night when they are outside. Lady is a bit more low key when it comes to stuff being on her, so we tried the PupLight on her first. I have to say here that this light is super bright...I was very impressed when I first turned it on! It was pitch black when Lady went out side as all of the outside flood lights were turned off. Sure enough, I could see her! My inlaws have heard coyotes outside several times throughout the past month so I know that this light will help deter the coyotes from bothering the dogs. The light was very visible and shined very brightly for long distances. Then, we tried the light out on Harley. He is a PRO at getting collars off but wasn't successful at getting the PupLight off. He tried very hard, but came back inside with it still around his neck! :)
The PupLight retails at $19.95 and can be purchased at Petco stores as well as Cabelas stores (including online stores) and catalogs. You can also purchase the PupLight on the PupLight website. It comes in different colors as well so you can choose that too!

So, in my opinion...the PupLight is an amazing product. It is a perfect gift for anyone who owns a dog...big or small. The safety factors make it a worth while investment for many happy years with your dog!
