Holiday Gift Guide ~ Wink Soap Review

I am a girl who just loves all things soap. Hand soap, body wash, scrubs, you name it - I love it! My favorite right now has to be handmade soaps though. You just cannot beat the look, smell and feel of soap that is crafted by hand. During this wonderful time of year, it is amazing how many varieties of hand made soaps are  popping up around the market. I love the store-bought soaps but my favorites have to be those that are made by small companies who pride themselves in quality rather than quantity.
Today, I am going to introduce you to a company that I have never heard of before but am so thrilled to have met. Wink Soap is a company that was founded by a woman named Mindi. She began her adventure in soap making when she discovered that her sensitive skin needed more TLC than she was getting from store-bought brands. Here is more of Mindi's story...

"After using my first bar of handmade soap, I was hooked! Not only did it do a great job of removing dirt, but it left my skin so moisturized and supple. I used to always slather on the lotion after washing my hands or showering because my skin was stripped of its natural oils and felt so dry and tight. But not after using the handmade soap, I did not need any lotion!

I started using handmade soap on a regular basis, and loved the variety of fragrances available. I could always try something new. With store-bought soap I was limited to only a few scents like Mountain Air and Shower Fresh and I did not care for most of them. But the variety of scents available in handmade formulas got me hooked and I bought tons of soap! With my love of handmade soap and desire to share it with the world, I began a journey into soap making and haven’t looked back since!

I am also a vegan, and do not eat any animal products. I have a strong compassion for animals and strive to include as many vegan/vegetarian products into my everyday life as possible. With the launch of Wink Soap, all of my products are vegan and cruelty-free, meaning neither the finished product nor any of the ingredients have been tested on animals. I hope you enjoy using my soaps as much as I enjoy providing them to you."

In exploring Wink Soap, I have discovered that Mindi not only makes soap, but also Lip Balms! She also carries a wide variety of scents so you have your pick of many different and lovely soaps.
So, for this review I was sent a bar of Lavender Patchouli Handmade Soap. I love lavender and wasn't sure what Patchouli smelled like so I was really excited to see what this soap was like! First of all, I LOVE the labeling. It is so cute and modern, definitely made with class! She also notes right on the label that it is indeed, vegan...for those of you who are interested in vegan products, this one's for you!
This bar of soap is a good size and definitely will last a while. I wasn't sure what I was smelling when I sniffed it, but could smell the lavender. It wasn't overpowering...yet could have been a bit stronger. After some research, I learned that Patchouli is an earthy, mossy scent that comes from a bushy herb of the mint family. I could definitely smell the clean and earthy scent and it was lovely paired with the lavender. The ingredients in this Lavender Patchouli soap are: Olive oil, coconut oil, soybean oil, hemp oil, organic shea butter, sodium hydroxide, fragrance.
Wink Soap contains Shea Butter, which is wonderful for the skin. It penetrates without leaving a greasy feel, and I like that. Alot. I found that this particular soap didn't make my hands feel super soft but that they did feel clean! The smell while washing with it was pleasant and clean and there were just enough bubbles too. :) If you know me, then you know that I love a bubbly soap!
All of Wink Soaps retail for $5.95 per bar and you have your choice of 11 scents! They also carry a lovely looking Coconut Cream Lip Balm, which looks wonderful! Did I mention that Wink Soap also makes soap for men??? Keep that in mind when you are looking for that last minute gift for a guy on your list!

If you would like to keep up with Wink Soap on social media, be sure to visit them on Facebook and also on Twitter. Make sure you say hello and let them know that you found them through me!
So, in my opinion...Wink Soaps are awesome! I love how nice my hands smelled after using the Lavender Patchouli scented soap and how clean they were too. My overall impression of this company is a good one and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to give their skin a welcome relief from traditional store-bought soaps.

How many of you are super athletic and active during the summer months? I used to be...prior to having children and now, it seems I chase them all around so that counts as something, right? One concern that many athletes and active people have during the summer is hydration and the risk of dehydration, especially if you live in a hot/tropical climate. We life in NY state so we have four full seasons, our summers can be hot and humid and if you are active, that can be challenging. Food allergies can limit the choices when it comes to hydration drinks. So, today I am going to introduce you to The Pickle Juice Company . This company specializes in gluten-free sports drinks that will stop muscle cramps in their tracks and keep you hydrated and refreshed no matter what activities you are participating in this summer! Prem Soaps Review

I often love to highlight beauty and skin care products here on my blog and have been on the search for some really great and organic beauty companies to feature. When it comes to my skin (as I have said numerous times before) I am choosy as to what I use on it. Our skin really takes a beating...especially when exposed to the weather and indoor elements such as water, heat, cleaners and soaps . Have you noticed that most soaps today...even though they smell great...contain LOADS of chemicals and additives? I have, and honestly-it's scary. Think about it...your skin is like a giant sponge; what goes ON gets absorbed IN. So I think it is important to use only those products that will put goodness in...rather than chemicals. The other day I was searching the Internet for organic kitchen products . Specifically, I was looking for bamboo products, towels, dishes, etc. However, I was NOT prepared to find what I did! Prem Soaps is a little company nestled in Brooklyn, NY that...

Wholly Guacamole Review and Giveaway

***GIVEAWAY CLOSED*** Here in our home, we are big time snackers. My husband always says "Time to eat again!" right before he goes to bed...it's tradition!!! So, off to bed he goes carrying a plate of some type of snack. His favorite foods are usually hot foods to "warm up" his belly before dozing off for the night. HOW he enjoys this I don't know. Usually he brings in extra for me too but because I brush my teeth before crawling into bed I don't normally partake of his night time snacks. We LOVE salsa in our house too...it is just something that is always a part of our snacking. The best part about snacking on salsa is that it is usually healthy for you...which makes it all the more enjoyable! This next review encompasses guacamole AND salsa...and my my-it is GOOD! I have heard of Wholly Guacamole before but had never tried it. So when the opportunity arose for me to conduct a review of their products, I was thrilled! Mainly because I have ...
