Palmer’s “Pink” Touch to Benefit Breast Cancer Awareness Month

6:30 AM

If you are anything like me, then you have had someone in your life who has been touched by cancer. Sometimes, it is someone very close and other times, it is someone with whom you are acquainted  but don't know very well at all. As you all may or may not know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I wanted to let you all know about something really fabulous that Palmer's is doing this month.
During the month of October, Palmer's will be partnering with the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation! Breast cancer effects thousands of women across this planet, each and every day and it can be very devastating. Last year at this time, I introduced you all to a beautiful woman named Amy Bixby. She was a wonderful wife to her husband and  a loving mother of 7 young children who lost her battle with breast cancer in August of 2011. I didn't know her personally, yet her story touched me so much because I am a wife and mother and cannot imagine leaving my husband a widower and my children without a mother. I think that would be my husband's worst nightmare...seriously.

Susan G. Komen is a wonderful, non profit organization that focuses on breast cancer and they are working to find a cure. Here is a bit more about this organization...

Since 1982, Komen has played a critical role in every major advance in the fight against breast cancer – transforming how the world talks about and treats this disease and helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors. We are proud of our contribution to some real victories:

  • More early detection and effective treatment– Currently, about 70 percent of women 40 and older receive regular mammograms, the single most effective screening tool to find breast cancer early.  Since 1990, early detection and effective treatment have resulted in a 33 percent decline in breast cancer mortality in the U.S.
  • More hope – In 1980, the 5-year relative survival rate for women diagnosed with early stage breast cancer (cancer confined to the breast) was about 74 percent. Today, that number is 99 percent.
  • More research – The federal government now devotes more than $850 million each year to breast cancer research, treatment and prevention (compared to $30 million in 1982).
  • More survivors – Currently, there are about 3 million breast cancers survivors, the largest group of cancer survivors in the U.S.

So, it is so thrilling to hear that Palmer's is partnering with Susan G. Komen this month. To show their support, Palmer's has instituted pink packaging so you can easily identify which of their products support Susan G. Komen. Here is a little more information about which products Palmer's has turned "pink" and all about their donations...

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Palmer’s will donate 15 percent of the sales (with a minimum donation of $100,000) of specially-marked bottles of the following classic Cocoa Butter Formula products – Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick, Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion, Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks and Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil – to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

·         Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick ($2.70)
·         Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion ($4.50)
·         Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks ($6)
·         Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil ($10.99)

I love it when a company takes a non-profit organization seriously and actually tries to help support them. I am already a fan of Palmer's, but this really helps me to understand WHY I am a fan. I want to be a part and will DO my part to support breast cancer research this month.
