I love openhouses at Sam's Club ! We have been a few times but won't make it this time around. I seem to be on a bit of a coffee kick lately. Not sure why...maybe it's because I am sitting here in my cozy home, while my local area is being pounded by loads of snow. Yes, I live near Buffalo and just 20 miles away from me, I have friends who are digging out. They are dealing with 5+ feet of snow, caving roofs, driving bans and little supplies at the grocery stores. Thankfully, the massive band of snow missed us and we just have a dusting of snow. My thoughts go out to those who are struggling though. Anyway, after shoveling snow or romping with the children out in the snow, it is nice to come into the house and have a nice hot cup of "something" to drink. Whether it is cocoa, tea or coffee, hot beverages are very comforting on cold, blustery and wintry days. I am a coffee drinker. Several years ago, my husband bought a Keurig for me for Christmas and I use it religiously. I love it. Growing up, Christmas was always a huge deal at my house. Starting the weekend after Thanksgiving, Christmas would be in full swing. As a family, we would go out and pick out a tree from a local farm and then take it home to decorate it. Once the tree was decorated, we would turn off all the lights in the house and watch the tree shimmer and sparkle in the darkness. That was the best part. I have MANY fond memories of Christmas when I was growing up. My parents made sure it was a fun time for all of us and to this day, I am thankful for their efforts to make it a special time of year. Once I had my first baby, we made sure to get a Christmas tree for her first Christmas. She was just a little tyke, and we loved showing her the lights and ornaments. I am a homeschooling mom and am always looking for educational activities for my children to do. Ohhhh mice. I hate mice. When we first moved into our house, we had mice but I didn't know it at first. Here's my crazy story. I woke up one morning and went to the kitchen to get some breakfast. I grabbed an unopened bag of cinnamon raisin bagels and got a plate out of the cupboard. As I went to open the bag, I noticed that there was a hole in the bottom of the bag but it didn't look like a hole big enough to get a bagel out of. I immediately accused my husband of opening the wrong end of the bag and thought to myself, "Why doesn't he pay attention to which end is the correct end!" Upon further investigation, I noticed that several of the bagels near the hole were chewed up...and immediately, I was disgusted. Mice. The thought of them scampering across my kitchen counters was repulsive enough but when I thought of them getting into my food, I was SO grossed out.
