Savoring Summertime: Reindeer Snack Mix

Well, I thought I would try something different today. How about a great summer recipe? I am going to try and post a summertime recipe every Saturday so be sure to stop by and see what goodies are coming out of my kitchen on the weekend!

*************

I discovered this recipe several years ago and it has become a favorite...especially around the holidays. However, it is a perfect treat for just about any time. My hubby and I take it to parties, eat it on game night and we always get sooo many great compliments on it! There is a little "zing" to it, so be prepared to give your tastebuds a real treat!
Reindeer Snack Mix
2 c. Bugles
2 c. cheese-flavored snack crackers (like Cheez-its)
2 c. pretzel sticks
1 c. Corn Chex
1 c. bite-sized unsweetened Shredded Wheat
1 c. pecan halves (optional...they are VERY expensive)
1/2 c. butter
1 Tbsp. maple syrup
1-1/2 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
3/4 tsp. Cajun seasoning
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
In a large bowl, combine the first six ingredients. In another bowl, combine the butter, syrup, Worchestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning and cayenne pepper; pour over cereal mixture and toss to coat.

Transfer to an ungreased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. ungreased baking pan (I use a cookie sheet). Bake, uncovered, at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Yield: about 9 cups.

If you are taking to a party, I recommend doubling the recipe...you will be glad that you did! :) Enjoy! ::

  5. I love snack mixes - this sounds interesting. Maple syrup and Cayenne pepper sounds interesting but not in a bad way.. more of a "never thought of that combo" way :)

  7. By far the best snack mix I have ever made!! Don't think I will ever make any other kind. Something about the salty, slightly sweet and a little heat that temp your taste buds! DO NOT start eating this on an empty stomach, or you will eat the entire bowl!!

So, this next review is brought to you by Carmex and is featuring their brand new Vanilla Twist and Lime Twist Ultra Moisturizing Lip Balms ! Carmex has been one of my favorite brands to use lately mainly because I love the tingly sensation that is present after using their products. Carmex Healing Lotion & Healing Cream Review

Because I am a member of the Carmex Blog Squad , I am informed of and privileged to bring you reviews of Carmex's newest products! This is something that I have been doing for awhile and have really grown to love the Carmex brand. The newest products that have been introduced by Carmex are lovely and will definitely impress you as they have me. Because I am a mom, I wash my hands frequently. After diaper changes, before cleaning wounds, bathroom breaks, preparing food...all this requires clean hands. Because I usually apply lotion while I am moving and going from one thing to the next, I do not like a greasy lotion. I HATE applying a cream and having to "dry" my hands for the next half hour. What a perfectly good waste of time that is. So, I was wondering what Carmex would offer me in way of fast and quickly absorbing lotion. Before I continue, here is a bit more about Carmex for those of you who are new to their brand... Carmex® lip balm was invented in 1...

Community Coffee Review

In my house, I am the only coffee drinker. This means that I can choose the type (caffeinated or decaf), flavor and strength of my coffee. I fell in love with coffee when I was in high school and have never looked back. To me, it is relaxing to sip on a cup in the morning and to enjoy a cup while visiting with friends. Holding onto a mug also gives me something to do with my hands instead of flapping them around. Ha ha! Well, we have just ended a wonderful holiday season and I am sure many of you enjoyed coffee in fun and delicious seasonal flavors. I also love how there are special liquid coffee creamers that take on a holiday feel as well...eggnog, hazelnut and peppermint to name a few. YUM! Well, just because the holidays are over, doesn't mean you cannot enjoy a taste of them now! I am sure many of you have heard of Community Coffee and their delicious variety of coffees. Well, I have known about them for some time now but have never tried their brand before. I was ...
