***GIVEAWAY CLOSED***
Back when I was in my late teens I was having serious issues with yeast. My mom helped me to go on a completely yeast free diet, white sugar free and natural diet. On this diet I remember enjoying rice syrup on my rice cakes and it was DELICIOUS. It tasted so much like honey and was so yummy! I didn't stay on that diet for much longer than 6 months and soon, I forgot all about the rice syrup.
I was thrilled with the opportunity to do another review and giveaway from Tropical Traditions and was even more excited when I saw that they carried Organic Brown Rice Syrup. Yeah! This was definitely something that I was eager to try.
Before I go too much further, here is a bit more about this yummy and natural sweetener...
Tropical Traditions Certified Organic Brown Rice Syrup is a natural sweetener produced by steeping whole brown rice with a special enzyme preparation derived from “koji.” This process transforms the steamed grain into a smooth flavored, pleasantly sweet syrup. It is made without the use of any cane or beet sugars (no cane juice crystals), corn syrups, or other refined sweeteners of any kind. Organic Brown Rice Syrup is an excellent sweetener for all baked goods, in the preparation of sauces or marinades, and for general cooking purposes.
I really love how this Organic Brown Rice Syrup contains no corn syrup. As much as it helps to sweeten foods, it is soo bad for you! As my children love sweet things and my son cannot have honey yet, this rice syrup was perfect for them. Especially since it is organic, easy to digest, gluten-free and helps sustain energy...the healthy way!

So for this review I was sent a full sized jar of Organic Brown Rice Syrup. My daughter loves to eat peanut butter toast with honey for breakfast. Instead of honey and peanut butter I gave her this syrup with butter on her toast and she LOVED it! My son also enjoyed the little tastes he received.
Then I tried it on my bagel. I have to agree that the flavor is very non-distinct. It definitely is not honey but tastes very similar to it.
What is also nice about this syrup is that you can use it for baking. I would love to try the recipe for Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter Balls. Don't they look YUMMY???
This Organic Brown Rice Syrup retails for $5.99 a jar or you can purchase a case of 12 bottles (if you join as a member) for $65.00. Truly, these are very reasonable prices. I see my jar lasting awhile if I don't use it for baking.
So, in my opinion...Tropical Traditions Organic Brown Rice Syrup is a fantastic product! I love how sweet it is, yet so very healthy. I definitely recommend it to anyone...especially to those of you on dietary restrictions. This would taste great on cereal, ice cream, muffins and bagels too! I love it! :)
